Some people become the dependable one: the person others call, who keeps things running and handles problems on their own. That role can come with real strengths. It can also come with costs that are easy to overlook, because the people who carry the most are often the last ones anyone checks on.
These journal prompts are a chance to look at the role more closely: where it came from, what it takes from you, and what support could look like. You can print the PDF and write by hand, or read through the prompts below and answer them however works best for you.

How to Use These Prompts
Find a quiet 10–15 minutes and something to write with. Answer in whatever way feels natural, whether that’s full sentences, lists, or a few words. There are no right answers, so write what’s true for you rather than what you think you should say. You don’t need to finish in one sitting. Pick one prompt, or come back to them over a few days.
Part 1: The Role
When did you first become the one people count on? What was going on in your life at the time
What does being “the strong one” look like in an ordinary week? Think about the calls you take, the problems you solve, and the things you keep to yourself.
What do people assume about you because you seem to have it handled?
Part 2: What It Costs
What do you set aside to keep things running? Sleep, rest, your feelings, your own plans?
Where does the weight show up for you: your body, your mood, your patience, your relationships?
When was the last time someone asked how you were doing and you told the full truth? What made that possible, or what got in the way?
What do you worry would happen if you put some of it down?
Part 3: What Support Could Look Like
Who in your life could you let in a little more? What’s one small thing you could let them carry?
What would make it easier for you to accept help when it’s offered?
If you didn’t have to be the strong one all the time, what would you want more room for?
